AUGMENT PNP PERSONNEL RETURN FROM ELECTION DUTIES
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office 8 Regional Director, PCSUPT ELMER RAGADIO SORIA has tendered a cordial and joyous welcome to its returning uniformed personnel back from election duties for two (2) weeks yesterday.
Nine Hundred Thirteen (913) uniformed personnel have been pulled out of election duties as the Philippine National Police (PNP) have started shifting its focus on anti-criminality operations after what it described to be a generally peaceful elections on Monday.

PRO8 WELCOMES STUDENTS AS CLASSES OPENS
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – PRO8 is ready to welcome back students for the simultaneous opening of classes in both public and private learning institutions beginning on June 3, 2013 for Academic Year 2013-2014.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the opening of classes for School year 2013-2014 in public Elementary and Secondary schools will be on June 3.
DepEd Order #10, series of 2013 also sets a five-day Maintenance Week named “Brigada Eskwela Week” from May 20 to 24 to allow communities and private organizations clean up the classrooms in preparation for the opening of classes.
PRO8 TO HONOR ELECTION HEROES
Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte, May 16, 2013 – A police officer who sacrificed his life to ensure the integrity of the elections and another cop who foiled election violence leads the election heroes that will be feted by the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) along with the almost 5,000 cops who secured Monday’s polls.
“POI Agerico Afable’s display of heroism to defend the credibility of the elections and SPO3 Jorge Tiunayan’s act of bravery that prevented escalation of poll violence will not go worthless as their dedication to duty will be properly recognized,” Police Chief Superintendent ELMER RAGADIO SORIA, PRO8 director said.
POI Afable was slain by armed men while keeping watch of the polling center in Calingatngan village, Borongan in Eastern Samar while SPO3 Tiunayan singlehandedly foiled an attempt to sow violence by armed men during last Monday’s elections in Brgy. Mantang, Taft town, also in Eastern Samar.
All policemen who rendered election duties also deserves a pat on the back, according to SORIA, after ordering the pull-out of augmentation forces as “the critical period of the 2013 elections have already passed.”
LONE POLICE OFFICER FOILS POLLING CENTER VIOLENCE IN EASTERN SAMAR
Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte, May 15, 2013 - A police officer securing a polling center in a remote village in Eastern Samar singlehandedly foiled an attempt to sow violence by some armed men during last Monday’s polls.
“Senior Police Officer 3 Jorge B Tiunayan’s act of bravery thwarted an almost gunfight between two armed groups that could have affected the peaceful conduct of the elections in the area,” said PCSupt. ELEMER RAGADIO SORIA, director of Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8).
SORIA added that the cop’s presence of mind prevented the eruption of a violent incident between two warring factions from opposite political camps.
