Accordingly, the PNP team’s continuous efforts and series of negotiations which started in April 2022 led to their denouncement of support to CTG. They were fetched by the team in their respective residences in Tacloban City. They confessed that the reason for their withdrawal of support from the CTG was to finally cut their ties with them and that they realized how the CTG exploited them and put their lives at risk with false promises and lies.

As of this writing, subjects are now under the custody of the 2nd LPMFC for booking and documentation.

Meanwhile, on August 2, 2022, at about 4:00 in the afternoon, one (1) male CTG member, named as alias Bagsik, surrendered to police authorities in Sitio Balirigan, Barangay Bunga, Villareal, Samar.

He is single, 46 years old, fish vendor, and a resident of Catbalogan, Samar.

Based on the report, joint elements from the Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 under the direct supervision of PLTCOL RODOLFO C ALBOTRA JR, OIC, RID, conducted a series of negotiations through intelligence and information operations and were able to convince him to surrender. He also turned in his one (1) 12-gauge shotgun, one (1) caliber .38 revolver, nine (9) pieces of ammunition for 12-gauge shotgun, and five (5) pieces of ammunition for caliber .38 revolver. He is now under the protection and custody of 805th MC, RMFB 8 for proper disposition.

PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, Regional Director, lauded the initiative of RID and RMFB personnel as well as the 2nd LPMFC. “With your relentless efforts in the campaign against insurgency, more CTG members and supporters are turning their back on the terrorist group,” RD BANAC said.

Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- The Philippine National Police, National Headquarters awarded the Police Regional Office represented by PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, Regional Director, for its remarkable disaster response during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette and Agaton at the PNP-NHQ, Camp Crame, Quezon City on July 28, 2022.
Said recognition was given coinciding the Culminating Ceremony of the 27th Police Community Relations Month with the theme, “Ugnayang Pulisya at Komunidad tungo sa Mapayapa, Maayos, at Maunlad na Pamayanan.”
PRO 8 was recognized for its contribution in alleviating the lives of the affected people and the community brought about by the onslaught of Typhoons Odette and Agaton which badly hit the Eastern Visayas leaving a large damage and losses of lives. Likewise, PRO 8 was awarded for its competence, professionalism, generous deeds and unselfish regard for the victims despite the possible danger.
RD BANAC presented the plaque to the men and women of PRO 8 on July 29, 2022 and expressed his gratitude to all who were behind the recognition. ” Our genuine efforts were recognized and I took pride in receiving such. It was a team effort, thus, I congratulate everyone of you for a job well done,” RD BANAC said.
He further said that, recognized or not, a police officer must perform his mandated task tirelessly with with compasiion and sincerity.
