6,869 DRUG USERS/PUSHERS VOLUNTARILY SURRENDER TO PNP IN EASTERN VISAYAS

Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte – As the aggressive campaign of Police Regional Office 8 to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs in Eastern Visayas continues, PRO8 8 relentlessly implements PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan, Project Double Barrel with two approaches: Project “Tokhang” and Project “High Value Target” (HVT).

This resulted to the voluntary surrender of 6,011 users and 858 pushers in the entire Eastern Visayas from July 1-10, 2016 as the spate of the all-out-war against illegal drugs continues, says PCSUPT ELMER CRUZ BELTEJAR, Acting Regional Director, PRO8.

According to PCSUPT BELTEJAR, from July 1 thousands of drug users and drug pushers submitted themselves to police stations and to their local mayors and pledged to abandon their illegal drugs activities after signing an affidavit of undertaking duly subscribed and sworn to before a notary public.

“They were not detained but we will closely monitor them. We anticipate more to surrender in the coming days and I encourage our public to continue supporting our fight against illegal drugs. Expect continuous anti-drug operations to be launched by your police, hindi kami titigil hanggat hindi nasusugpo ang illegal na droga sa buong rehiyon,” he said.

PCSUPT BELTEJAR commends the operating troops and said that PRO8 will continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate illegal drugs within the region as “Double Barrel” is being widely implemented in the country.
“The PNP anti-drug campaign operations have no timeline and it will never stop until said menace is totally eradicated in the region,” BELTEJAR added.
