Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte – PCSUPT ELMER CRUZ BELTEJAR, Acting Regional Director, Police Regional Office 8 lauds the operatives of RAIDSOTG 8 and Sogod MPS for neutralizing an ex-PNP member allegedly involved in illegal drug trade at about 1:40 PM of July 13, 2016 in Brgy. Zone 1, Sogod, Southern Leyte.

The RAIDSOTG 8 and members of Sogod MPS conducted buy-bust operation against Ex-PNP Member PO1 Emmanuel Salon, 39 years old, listed in the PNP Drug Watch list in PRO8 and is classified as High Value Target (HVT) of the Regional Anti-Drug (RAID) focus team.

During the buy-bust operation, Salon noticed the presence of PO2 Antonio Dador Jr, and immediately drew his .9mm pistol hitting the later at his right leg prompting the operatives to return fire.

Based on the initial report, Salon ran inside his house and the shootout ensued hitting PSI J-RALE O PAALISBO in his right hand while PO3 Jerome G Mendoza was also hit in his right middle finger. The suspect was killed inside the comfort room during the shootout.

Also, the following pieces of evidence were recovered: 4 pcs small heat sealed; 8 pieces medium heat sealed and 1 large heat sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu”.

The SOCO team recovered from the scene were: 24 pieces empty shell of different caliber, illegal drug paraphernalia, 5 pieces bullet fragment, 3 pieces slug, one unit caliber .38 revolver with SN 38 loaded with three fired cartridges and two live ammos and 1 unit caliber .9mm pistol marked Taurus with markings Philippine National Police with SN TZE303593.

Moreover, the suspect was dismissed from the PNP service since August 6, 2015 due to an administrative case of AWOL.

Inventory of seized items were witnessed by Hon. Arsenio Z Padencio, Brgy. Chairman and Hon. Ronilo P Morta, Brgy. Councilor of Brgy. Zone 1.

The three wounded PNP personnel were brought to Sogod District Hospital for medical treatment and were subsequently transferred to RTR Hospital while the body of the suspect was brought to the Funeral parlor in Sogod.
