Calbayog PNP Investigates Shooting Incident


         Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – Michael Angelo Mendoza Jr and one minor were shot dead by unidentified suspect/s in P-1, Brgy. Mawacat, Oquendo District, Calbayog City on March 1, 2019.

         Mendoza is 35 years old, with lived-in partner, jobless and a resident of Brgy. East Awang, Calbayog City. The victims were riding a motorcycle when suspect/s on board a Green Toyota Fortuner fired at them hitting different parts of their body that caused their instantaneous death.

         Recovered from the crime scene were: 17 pcs of 5.56mm,12 pcs of caliber .40 cartridges, 1 pc heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected “Shabu”, 1 pc magazine of Cal. 45, 6 pcs live ammunitions of cal. 45, cash money worth Php 19,740.00 in different denominations, 1-unit cellular phone with charger, 1 pc metal suppressor, 1 pc improvised totter, 3 M Lhuiller receipts, 1 pc electrical tape, 1 book (what is freemasonry), 1 pc shoe bag, 1 pc black sling bag, 1 pc Swiss knife, different IDs, assorted papers that contains cellphone numbers, 1 pc rolled foil, 1 pc affidavit of undertaking; and assorted keys from Michael Angelo Mendoza Jr while 1 pc lighter and cash money worth Php 450.00 were recovered from the minor.

         Elements of Calbayog City Police Station are now conducting follow-up investigation for the identification and arrest of the suspect/s.

         PNP PRO8 urges the public not to hesitate in reporting any information that might lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect/s. “I strongly condemn such violence especially that a minor was involved. I am calling out to the public to cooperate with us and give any information regarding the incident,” says Easter Visayas Police Director PCSUPT DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS.
