Eastern Visayas Cops Seize 35 Banned Weapons


       Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – A total of 35 weapons were confiscated which includes 14 bladed/pointed weapons, 12 ammunitions,  8 firearms including 2 units each for cal. 38 revolver, 2 homemade shotgun, 2 homemade firearm locally known as “ de holen” and 1 unit each for cal. 45 pistol and cal. 22 rifle in a 7-day simultaneous operations of police authorities all over Eastern Visayas from February 27 to March 5, 2019 under the supervision of Eastern Visayas Police Director, PCSUPT DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS.

      Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 7 persons out of 6 operations while Northern Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 5 persons out of 6 operations. Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 3 persons out of 3 operations while Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 2 persons out of 3 operations. Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 2 persons out of 2 operations. These arrested persons (all civilians) were brought to their respective areas of jurisdiction for proper documentation and disposition.

      The cases of the apprehended persons were: 13 counts for Violation of BP Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for other purposes), 6 counts for Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), 2 counts each for Murder (Stabbing incident) and Violation of Sec. 2 of COMELEC Resolution No. 10446 (Prohibited Acts), and 1 count each for Alarm and Scandal, Direct Assault upon Agent of Person in Authority, Arson, Violation of Sec 32 of RA 7166  (An Act Providing for Synchronized National and Local Elections and for Electoral Reforms, Authorizing appropriations therefor, and for other purposes).

      A total of 12,902 PNP personnel were deployed during the 7-day regular conduct of joint PNP/AFP checkpoints for the entire region.
