PNP Announces the Availment of Legal Defense Fund


Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – Police Regional Office 8 thru its Regional Legal Service 8 under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel MARIO G ABRENZOSA announces the availment of legal defense fund to PNP personnel facing service-connected cases.

This program of the Philippine National Police aims to provide legal assistance and defense in the maximum of P 50,000.00 per incident to PNP personnel so as to give them aid in line with their defense of their case.

The requirements in the availment of the said program are as follows: the claimant must be an active and bonafide member of the PNP; the administrative, civil or criminal case arose from the performance of the claimant’s responsibilities and functions; the case is filed before any court or tribunal or those under the supervision of the Supreme Court and the claim is filed before the agency where the claimant performed responsibilities and functions subject of the case.

All applications shall be filed upon the Secretariat of the PNP Legal Defense Fund Claims Board within 30 days from the date of approval of deliberated service-connected case.

Further, attached to the application are: certification signed by the respective head of office declaring that the applicant is assigned under their jurisdiction and certifying that the case arose from an incident which is related to the performance of official duty; copy furnish their respective administrative officers; resolution of PNP Legal Service proving that the pending administrative, civil or criminal case are service-connected; DLOD Clearance certifying that there is no other existing administrative case other than the service-connected case; DI Clearance certifying that the claimant has no derogatory records and; LS Certification stating that the claimant has not committed any irregularity, negligence, or administrative lapses in the deliberated service-connected case.

With that, police personnel facing service-connected cases assigned at the region are advised to seek help directly with the Chief, Regional Legal Office. The office of the Legal Office is widely open to those who seek legal help.
