Eastern Visayas Cops Sieze 114 Banned Weapons

Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – A total of 114 banned weapons were confiscated which include 52 ammunitions, 27 bladed/pointed weapons, 13 units of firearms (5 units of cal. 45 pistol, 4 units of cal. 38 revolver and 1 unit each for cal. 22 pistol and 5.56 revolver, improvised gun and homemade gun (deholen) and marbles used for Holen gun, 4 magazines, 2 units each for cartridge case and sling bag and 1 empty shell for cal. 45 pistol in an 11-day simultaneous operations of police authorities all over Eastern Visayas from March 29 to April 8, 2019 under the supervision of Eastern Visayas Police Director, PBGEN DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS.

Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 19 persons out of 19 operations while Northern Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 4 persons out of 2 operations. Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 4 persons out of 4 operations. Eastern Samar Provincial Offices arrested 2 persons out of 2 operations while Biliran Police Provincial Office arrested 2 persons out of a single operation. Southern Leyte Police Provincial Offices and Tacloban and Ormoc City Police Offices arrested 1 person out of a single operation. These arrested persons (all civilians) were brought to their respective areas of jurisdiction for proper documentation and disposition.

The cases of the apprehended persons were: 24 counts each for Violation of BP Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for other purposes), 4 counts each for Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Frustrated murder (Hacking and Stabbing incident), 3 counts for Alarm and Scandal, 2 counts for Violation of Sec. 261 of Paragraph Q of Omnibus Election Code (Carrying Firearms Outside Residence or Place) and Murder (Hacking incident).

A total of 21,010 PNP personnel were deployed during the 11-day regular conduct of joint PNP/AFP checkpoints for the entire region.
