Eastern Visayas Cops Confiscate 72 Banned Weapons


Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – A total of 72 banned weapons were confiscated which includes 32 pcs of pellets/marbles for de holen gun, 17 bladed/pointed weapons, 12 ammunitions, 8 units of firearms (5 units of improvised gun and homemade gun (de holen), 2 units of cal. 45 and 1 air gun rifle), 2 magazine, 1 holster for cal. 45 and piggy bank figurine containing cash amounting to Php 60,000.00 in a 7-day simultaneous operations of police authorities all over Eastern Visayas from April 9-15, 2019 under the supervision of Eastern Visayas Police Director, PBGEN DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS.

Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 8 persons out of 8 operations conducted while Northern Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 4 persons out of 2 operations. Tacloban City Police Provincial Office arrested 4 persons out of 4 operations while Eastern Samar Provincial Offices arrested 3 persons out of 3 operations. Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 2 persons out 2 operations while Ormoc City Police Office arrested 1 person out of a single operation. These arrested persons (all civilians) were brought to their respective areas of jurisdiction for proper documentation and disposition.

The cases of the apprehended persons were: 14 counts each for Violation of BP Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for other purposes), 5 counts of Frustrated Murder (Stabbing and Hacking), 4 counts for Alarm and Scandal, 3 counts each for Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and 1 count each for Robbery and Grave Threat.

A total of 11,828 PNP personnel were deployed during the 7-day regular conduct of joint PNP/AFP checkpoints for the entire region.
