PRO8 Records Accomplishments during Election Period
Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of Eastern Visayas Police Director, PBGEN DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS recorded accomplishments on the focused police operations in the 2019 Midterm Elections during election period.
Police operations for the whole duration of the election period which started last January 13, 2019 and lasted until June 12, 2019, arrested 124 Most Wanted Persons and 1,413 other Wanted Persons. Also, a total of 322 loose firearms were confiscated, seized or recovered for Violation of COMELEC Gun Ban; 477 firearms were voluntarily surrendered and deposited through Safekeeping under OPLAN KATOK.
Likewise, this PRO has recorded 8 incidents in vote-buying during the height of the election on May 12-13, 2019 of which 6 suspects are still at large; 1 on bail; and 2 were released. Appropriate cases were already filed against the suspects. Vote-buying incidents occurred in the provinces of Northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Samar, and Southern Leyte.
Moreover, 1,638 deadly weapons were confiscated to include 258 bladed/pointed weapons; 16 grenade; 10 explosives (IED); and 1,354 ammunitions.
Further, no PAG member; gun for hire; criminal gang; nor politicians in intense political rivalry were apprehended.
With these results of various police operations manifested that PRO8 has exerted their zealous efforts to prevent untoward incidents to happen that might cause chaos to the community especially during the election period.
The presence of police officers in critical places all over the region made the public feel more secured and safe.
