Human Rights Affairs Office Marks Significant Accomplishments
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Human Rights Affairs Office 8 (HRAO8) led by PMAJ ELMERSON C BADILLA marked significant accomplishments for the whole year of 2019.
HRAO serves as a management facility that oversees the implementation of the PNP policies and guidelines on Human Rights.
The HRAO8 has been conducting various seminars, lectures and Police Information and Continuing Education (PICE) to PNP personnel in Eastern Visayas to educate them on the rights of arrested criminals. For the entire 2019, the said Office has conducted 4 seminars to 146 participants, 41 lectures to 1,800 attendees, 17 PICE to 574 participants and 39 inspections on custodial facilities.
Aside from the above-mentioned activities conducted, HRAO8 has made a substantial impact to Police Regional Office 8 with its continuing outreach activities. Among these are: Supplemental Feeding Program dubbed as “Pulis Arrozcaldo” and “Pulis Champorado” having 631 recipients from 7 different elementary schools in EV, Palarong Pambata ng Pulis Program (4Ps) with 427 participants from 4 elementary schools, Giving of Toys, Biscuits, Cash, Candies, Chocolates and other goodies to 72 pupils, Pamasko ng Pulis “PNP” to 355 children, ONE-PNP Program dubbed “One Pencil, One Notebook, One Paper” to 484 pupils, Pulis Tsinelas “Ihakbang Tungo sa Magandang Bukas” to 355 children and Regalong Makatao to 43 persons under PNP custody. Also, HRAO8 initiated 3 tournaments during the Pulis Basketbolista sa Barangay/Bayan.
“As police officers, we need to be proficient and well-informed on the doctrine and principles on Human Rights to enable us to perform our duties and responsibilities competently as law enforcers,” says PBGEN FERDINAND O DIVINA, Regional Director.
He also commended the personnel of HRAO8 for extending their efforts in reaching out to the communities which promotes a very favorable and harmonious relationship between the PNP and the public.
