2, 657 or 92.45% Affected Barangays In Eastern Visayas Clear Of Drugs
Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – 2, 657 or 92.45% were declared Drug Cleared Barangays out of 2,874 Drug Affected Barangays validated by the Oversight Committee represented by PDEA, DILG, DOH, LGU and PNP as of October 10, 2018.
Out of 4, 390 barangays in the Region, 2, 874 have been noted as drug affected with only 1, 516 non-affected barangays. Of the 2, 849 certified cleared barangays by respective Drug Abuse Councils (DACs) which were further endorsed from PDEA Validation, 2,657 barangays were validated by the oversight committee as of February 23, 2020.
The Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) recorded 891 or 87.18% Drug Cleared Barangays validated by the Oversight Committee, out of 1,022 barangays cleared by Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) / Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC)/ City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).
In Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO), all 462 barangays or 100% were certified drug cleared as validated by the Oversight Committee and promulgated as Drug Cleared Province. Likewise, the Biliran Police Provincial Office was also declared as a Drug Cleared Province having 108 or 100% certified drug cleared barangays.
Meanwhile, the Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) with 91 or 100% Drug Cleared Barangays were also validated and categorized as a Drug Cleared City. Similarly, with Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) which was declared as a Drug Cleared City with 127 or 100% drug cleared barangays.
On the other hand, Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) recorded 361 or 96.01% Drug Cleared Barangays out of 376 Drug Affected Barangays. In Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO), 350 or 85.57% were certified Drug Cleared Barangays out of 399 barangays endorsed for validation. Lastly, Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSSPO) recorded 267 or 95.70% certified Drug cleared barangays out of 279 barangays endorsed for validation.
“PRO8 has achieved major gains in our campaign against illegal drugs and these records clearly indicate that indeed the police workforce of this Region has stepped up its anti-illegal drugs operations,” RD Divina said.
