Eastern Visayas Police Arrests Community Quarantine Violators

Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) under the flagship of PBGEN BERNABE M BALBA, Regional Director, arrested violators of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) or “Resistance and disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority” while the entire Region is under Community Quarantine.

Following the implementation of Community Quarantine, each Local Government Unit (LGU) in Eastern Visayas has its own adaptation/modifications of the strict directive. Thus, in compliance to such, anyone who violates said directive is subject for arrest. As of this writing, this PRO has already arrested 26 violators from the different provinces.

Of the 20 violators, 8 of whom are from Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO); 5 from Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO); 5 from Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO); 1 from Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) and 1 from Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO).

As one of the preventive measures to preempt the spread of COVID19, Security Operations Response or COVID19 Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) is installed as border control/checkpoints composed of the PNP, AFP, BFP, PCG, PPA, BJMP, LGUs, CDRRMO, CHO, other government offices and force multipliers.

“I appeal to the public to please cooperate. My message is plain and simple- Let us all unite and be a hero, STAY AT HOME AND SAVE LIVES. It is the least thing that you can contribute to the government amidst this national health crisis,” says PBGEN BALBA.

He further added to always observe safety precautions against the spread of the COVID19 virus such as washing your hands properly, avoid touching your mouth, eyes, nose (MEN), cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, avoid crowded places and contact with anyone who has fever or cough and practice religiously social/physical distancing.
