PRO8 QRT Readies for COVID-19
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) under the leadership of PBGEN BERNABE M BALBA, Regional Director (RD), readies its Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) through the Regional Health Service 8 (RHS8) headed by PLTCOL TECHIE M LEBANAN, Officer-in-Charge, in anticipation of their possible deployment and mobilization in a series of lectures and demonstrations at the PRO8 Grandstand on April 2-8, 2020.
The series of lectures include the origin of COVID-19, its mode of transmission and preventive and safety measures to prevent the spread of the deadly disease. It also highlights the role of each QRT member, proper hand washing and donning and doffing of the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).
To prepare the participants for traumatic/stressful situations arising from the health emergency, psychological processing is also provided.
The participants also given Vitamin C, Paracetamol and Pneumococcal vaccination.
The PRO’s 161 Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) is composed of 1,713 personnel who are ready for deployment to support security and response operations as the need arises.
This is in support to PRRD’s declaration of State of Public Health Emergency due to the affectation of the COVID-19 in the country that needs a whole of the nation approach and appropriate police response to ensure public safety and security.
“The entire police force of Eastern Visayas is always ready to be of service in fighting this faceless enemy. We fervently appeal to the public to please stay at home. In these trying times, this is the least that we could do to our fellow Filipinos,” RD Balba stated.
