Eastern Visayas Police Assures Security Amid CoViD-19

Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 deployed uniformed personnel to essential places to assure and maintain the safety and security of the areas under the leadership of PBGEN BERNABE M BALBA, Regional Director.

More or less 500 PNP personnel are now on duty in malls, markets, food establishments and drugstores. Their task is to monitor the proper social distancing, proper wearing of facemasks and to maintain the total safety of everyone coming in out of said establishments.

Also, PRO 8 provided security assistance to the staff of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in their distribution of financial assistance for the Social Amelioration Program to all the qualified beneficiaries all over the region.

These undertakings of PRO 8 only prove that police officers are not merely in the streets manning checkpoints and maintaining peace and order among the populace, but are also providing safety and security assistance to our government counterparts and stakeholders.

“In these times of crisis, we cannot allow any crime to happen in all the malls where people buy for their basic needs and also in the markets, drugstores and other food and essential establishments. We see to it, that security of the public is our prime obligation. Also, to avoid any untoward incident to happen during the cash distribution, we have our police force continuously providing assistance to the DSWD staff. We are all in this battle. We are one in praying for an end to this pandemic,” says, RD Balba.
