Frontliners Receive Pneumococcal Vaccine
Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 under the leadership of PBGEN BERNABE M BALBA, Regional Director through its Regional Health Service (RHS) 8 led by PLTCOL TECHIE M LEBANAN, administered Pneumococcal Vaccine to 2, 465 frontliners region wide.
Said vaccine also known as anti-pneumonia vaccine will help prevent infections that may lead to pneumonia.
As of this writing, RHS 8 has already administered the said vaccine to more or less 3, 000 to frontliners especially those who are deployed in manning the checkpoints to include personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Civilians. The following were the recipients of the vaccine: 445 personnel from the Regional Headquarters, 194 from Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO), 232 from Biliran Police Provincial Office (BPPO), 513 from Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO), 457 from Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) and 624 from Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO).
Aside from vaccines, frontliners also received hygiene kits to include toothpaste, bathsoap, shampoo, deo-lotion and detergent powder.
Due to the shortage of supply of the Pneumococcal Vaccine, Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office and Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office will wait for the availability of said vaccine to push through the administering of said vaccine to their frontliners.
“The health of our frontliners must be taken care of since they are the ones at high risk while serving their mandated duties and responsibilities. I would also like to commend our PRO8 Health Service in making efforts and initiatives in providing the best health service to our personnel,” says RD Balba.
