1 Million Pesos Worth of Illegally Sawn Lumbers Confiscated
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte – 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st NSPMFC) led by PMAJ EDWIN M. OLOAN JR., Force Commander, together with Angelito B. Villanueva, Chief, PENRO, DENR, Northern Samar in coordination with San Isidro Municipal Police Station (MPS), 803rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 (RMFB8), 2nd and 43rd Infantry Battalion Delta Coy, conducted joint operations on Anti-Illegal Logging. This resulted in the confiscation of 20, 000 board feet of assorted lumbers with an estimated market value of Php 1,000,000 (One Million Pesos) in the areas of Brgy. Happy Valley, San Isidro, Northern Samar on May 5, 2020.
The confiscated lumbers were discovered by the authorities in the said place, hence, no suspect apprehended however, the authorities are now conducting investigation and possible arrest of the violator/violators. Further, confiscated lumbers are now in the custody of PENRO- Northern Samar and are due to scaling, documentation and proper disposition.
It is noted that in the last week of April 2020, there were also almost 2,000,000.00 (Two Million Pesos) worth of illegally sawn lumbers confiscated in the same place and in Brgy. Balite, San Isidro, Northern Samar.
“It is saddening that in the midst of the CoViD-19 pandemic, there are still those who can afford to do illegal activities for their own sake. We, in the PNP, continue our campaign against criminalities. We encourage the support of the community by giving us concrete and reliable information with regard to the said illegally sawn lumbers and other forms of criminality,” says PBGEN BERNABE MENDOZA BALBA, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 8.
