Maasin Police Confiscates Worth 388K Cigarettes
Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetik, Palo, Leyte – In compliance with the strict implementation of Smoke-Free Ordinance in Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Maasin PNP personnel led by PLTCOL MARK N NALDA, Chief of Police, confiscated Four Hundred Sixty-Six (466) reams and One Hundred Seventy-Eight (178) packs of assorted cigarettes with an estimated market value of Php 388,000.00 from Shirly Angeles Lim on May 8, 2020.
Lim of legal age, married, and a resident of Brgy. Panan-awan, Maasin City, Southern Leyte, is a businesswoman and owner of SLJ Merchandise located along the Bantug Street, Brgy. Tunga-Tunga, Maasin City. This is her third time being apprehended for the said offense.
Following are the assorted cigarettes confiscated: Mighty (Green and Red), Winnsboro (Red), Winston (Red), Jackpot (White) and Fortune (Red). Confiscated items were endorsed to the disposition of the Health City Initiative (HCI) thru Hon. Nacional V Mercado, City Mayor.

As we are all fighting to contain the pandemic we are facing right now, I appeal to the people of Eastern Visayas to cooperate with us and be our support in this plight,” says PBGEN BERNABE MENDOZA BALBA, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 8.
