Eastern Visayas Cops Nab 15 Most Wanted Persons and 491 other Offenders

 

Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 under the leadership of the Regional Director, PBGEN BERNABE MENDOZA BALBA, 15 Most Wanted Persons (MWP) and 169 other wanted persons; 14 illegal drug personalities including 4 High Value Individuals (HVIs); 157 illegal fishers; 130 illegal gamblers; and 21 illegal loggers were nabbed by EV Cops in an 15-day continuous and region-wide police operations from May 11-25, 2020.

Personnel of Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) under the leadership of PCOL RODELIO C SAMSON, Acting Provincial Director nabbed 3 MWPs for the crimes of Qualified Rape; Rape; R.A No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) and R.A. No. 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). LPPO also arrested 52 other wanted persons for the crimes of Rape; Attempted Murder; Murder; Attempted Homicide; Qualified Theft; Alarm and Scandal; Acts of Lasciviousness; Malicious Mischief; Direct Assault upon an Agent of a Person in Authority; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority; Grave Threats; Alarm and Scandal; Violations of R.A. No. 7581 (Price Act); R.A. No. 7942 (Philippine Mining Act of 1995); R.A No. 7610; RA No. 9165; R.A. No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004); R.A. No. 10593 (Coconut Preservation Act of 1995); R.A. No. 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act); P.D. No. 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974); P.D. No. 705 (Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines);  P.D. No. 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling); P.D. No. 1612 (Anti-Fencing Law of 1979) and B.P. Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for Other Purposes, Amending for the Purpose of Presidential Decree No. 9).

Personnel of Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) under the leadership of PCOL NELSON D EUCOGCO, Provincial Director nabbed 2 MWPs for the crimes of Statutory Rape; Murder; Robbery and Carnapping. SLPPO also arrested 15 other wanted persons for the crimes of Theft; Estafa; Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Damage to Property; Grave Oral Defamation; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 9175 (Chain Saw Act of 2002); R.A. No. 9442 (Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, and for Other Purposes); P.D. No. 449 and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) under the leadership of PCOL ANDRE P DIZON, Provincial Director nabbed 4 MWPs for the crimes of Attempted Murder; Frustrated Murder; Murder and R.A. No. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997). SPPO also arrested 14 other wanted persons for the crimes of Frustrated Murder; Theft; Slander; Acts of Lasciviousness; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority and Direct Assault upon an Agent of a Person in Authority; Violations of R.A No. 7610; R.A. No. 8550 (The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998) and R.A. No. 9262.

Personnel of Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO) under the leadership of PCOL REYNALDO B DELA CRUZ, Provincial Director nabbed 1 MWP for the crime of Attempted Rape. NSPPO also arrested 27 other wanted persons for the crimes of Attempted Murder; Perjury; Concubinage; Violations of R.A. No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act); R.A. No. 11332 and P.D. No. 705.

Personnel of Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) under the leadership of PCOL CARLITO D ABRIZ, Provincial Director nabbed 4 MWPs for the crimes of Murder; Statutory Rape and P.D. No. 705. ESPPO also arrested 22 other wanted persons for the crimes of Rape; Attempted Murder; Alarm and Scandal; Acts of Lasciviousness; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority; R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 11332; P.D. No. 449 and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Biliran Police Provincial Office (BPPO) under the leadership of PCOL JULIUS M COYME, Provincial Director nabbed 7 other wanted persons for the crimes of Qualified Theft; Alarm and Scandal; Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority and Violations of R.A. No. 7610; R.A. No. 9175; R.A. No. 11332; P.D. No. 1602; B.P. Blg. 6 and B.P. Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines).

Personnel of Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) under the leadership of PCOL MICHAEL A DAVID, City Director nabbed 1 MWP for the crime of Frustrated Murder and 11 other wanted persons for the crimes of Theft; Estafa; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016); R.A. No. 11332; P.D. No. 1619 (Penalizing the Use or Possession or the Unauthorized Sale to Minors of Volatile Substances for the Purpose of Inducing Intoxication or in Any Manner Changing, Distorting or Disturbing the Auditory, Visual or Mental Process) and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) under the leadership of PCOL ARMEL S GONGONA, City Director nabbed 21 other wanted persons for the crime of Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) and R.A. No. 11332.

Said operations resulted in the apprehension of 14 illegal drug personalities including 4 HVIs and the confiscation of 56 pcs heat-sealed plastic sachets suspected as shabu; 2 pcs heat-sealed plastic sachets suspected as marijuana; and Php 14,500.00 used as marked money. 157 illegal fishers were also arrested and confiscated from them were assorted fish and fishing paraphernalia worth Php 5,235,205. Also, 130 illegal gamblers with Php 85,755.00 worth of bet money and 21 illegal loggers with different dimensions of lumber worth Php 133,110.95 were arrested.

“As we face this unseen enemy, may we continue to be united and follow the mandate of the government to stay home. Stay home, save lives,” PBGEN Balba said.
