Eastern Visayas Cops Nab 26 Most Wanted Persons and 537 other Offenders

 

               Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 under the leadership of the Regional Director, PBGEN BERNABE MENDOZA BALBA, 26 Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) and 244 other wanted persons; 18 illegal drug personalities including 2 High Value Individuals (HVIs); 112 illegal fishers; 123 illegal gamblers; and 40 illegal loggers were nabbed by EV Cops in a 15-day continuous and region-wide police operations from May 26-June 10, 2020.

              Personnel of Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) under the leadership of PCOL RODELIO C SAMSON, Acting Provincial Director nabbed 7 MWPs for the crimes of Rape; Statutory Rape; Qualified Theft; Carnapping and R.A No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act). LPPO also arrested 70 other wanted persons for the crimes of Rape; Murder; Attempted Murder; Frustrated Murder; Homicide; Attempted Homicide; Frustrated Homicide; Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Serious Physical Injuries; Robbery; Theft; Qualified Theft; Attempted Theft; Acts of Lasciviousness; Direct Assault upon an Agent of a Person in Authority; Estafa; Cyberlibel; Violations of R.A No. 7610; R.A No. 8282 (Social Security Law); R.A No. 8550 (The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998); R.A No. 9147 (Wildlife Resources  Conservation and Protection Act); R.A. No. 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002); R.A No. 9147 (An Act Further Amending the Provisions of P.D. No. 1866); R.A. No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act); P.D. No. 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974); P.D. No. 705 (Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines);  P.D. No. 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling); and B.P. Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for Other Purposes, Amending for the Purpose of Presidential Decree No. 9).

Personnel of Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) under the leadership of PCOL NELSON D EUCOGCO, Provincial Director nabbed 39 other wanted persons for the crimes of Frustrated Homicide; Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Physical Injuries; Grave Oral Defamation; Acts of Lasciviousness; Direct Assault upon an Agent of a Person in Authority; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 8048 (Coconut Preservation Act of 1995); R.A. No. 9175 (Chain Saw Act of 2002); R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 10591; R.A. No. 10593 (Coconut Preservation Act of 1995); P.D. No. 449; P.D. No. 705; P.D. No. 1602; P.D. No. 1613 (Amending the Law on Arson) and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) under the leadership of PCOL ANDRE P DIZON, Provincial Director nabbed 7 MWPs for the crimes of Murder; Statutory Rape; R.A No. 7610 and R.A. No. 10591. SPPO also arrested 10 other wanted persons for the crimes of Rape; Murder; Frustrated Murder; Homicide; Attempted Homicide; Theft; Qualified Theft and Violation of R.A No. 7610.

Personnel of Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO) under the leadership of PCOL REYNALDO B DELA CRUZ, Provincial Director nabbed 4 MWPs for the crimes of Murder and Attempted Murder. NSPPO also arrested 36 other wanted persons for the crimes of Murder; Frustrated Murder; Attempted Homicide; Attempted Robbery; Theft; Alarm and Scandal; Direct Assault upon an Agent of a Person in Authority; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority; Less Serious Physical Injury and Violations of R.A. No. 7166 (An Act Providing for Synchronized National and Local Elections and for Electoral Reforms, Authorizing Appropriations Therefor, and for Other Purposes); R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 9516; R.A. No. 10591; R.A. No. 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act); P.D. No. 705; P.D. No. 1602  and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) under the leadership of PCOL CARLITO D ABRIZ, Provincial Director nabbed 7 MWPs for the crimes of Murder; Statutory Rape; Qualified Theft and R.A. No. 7610. ESPPO also arrested 30 other wanted persons for the crimes of Robbery; Alarm and Scandal; Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Less Serious Physical Injury; Estafa; Consented Abduction; Unjust Vexation; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 7610; R.A. No. 7942 (Philippine Mining Act of 1995); R.A. No. 10591; R.A. No. 11332 and B.P. Blg. 6.

Personnel of Biliran Police Provincial Office (BPPO) under the leadership of PCOL JULIUS M COYME, Provincial Director nabbed 1 MWP for the violation of R.A. No. 7610. BPPO also arrested 14 other wanted persons for the crimes of Attempted Murder; Robbery; Acts of Lasciviousness; Grave Threats; Slander; Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority and Violations of R.A. No. 7610; R.A. No. 8550; R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 11332; P.D. No. 705; P.D. No. 1602; B.P. Blg. 6 and B.P. Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines).

Personnel of Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) under the leadership of PCOL MICHAEL A DAVID, City Director nabbed 15 other wanted persons for the crimes of Robbery; Qualified Theft; Theft; Estafa; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of a Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 9165; R.A. No. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016); R.A. No. 11332; P.D. No. 1619 (Penalizing the Use or Possession or the Unauthorized Sale to Minors of Volatile Substances for the Purpose of Inducing Intoxication or in Any Manner Changing, Distorting or Disturbing the Auditory, Visual or Mental Process) and B.P. Blg. 6.

              Personnel of Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) under the leadership of PCOL ARMEL S GONGONA, City Director nabbed 30 other wanted persons for the crimes of Homicide; Qualified Theft; Alarm and Scandal; Malicious Mischief; Falsification of Public Documents; Qualified Tresspass to Dwelling; Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority; Violations of R.A. No. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997); R.A. No. 9262; R.A. No. 11332 and B.P. Blg. 6.

Said operations resulted in the apprehension of 18 illegal drug personalities including 2 HVIs and the confiscation of 73 pcs heat-sealed plastic sachets suspected as shabu and Php 8,500.00 used as marked money. 112 illegal fishers were also arrested and confiscated from them were assorted fish and fishing paraphernalia worth Php 5,494,915. Also, 123 illegal gamblers with Php 20,488.258 worth of bet money and 40 illegal loggers with different dimensions of lumber worth Php 225,067.80 were arrested.

“All of these accomplishments reflect the PRO8’s intensified campaign and relentless effort to keep Eastern Visayas safe. We will win this war against criminality with the help of the community amidst the pandemic crisis,” PBGEN Balba said.
