Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – To address the need for raising awareness on mental health, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) launched “Symposium on Mental Health Awareness in the Face of COVID-19: A Holistic Approach”, November 5, 2020, at Matapat Hall, Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte.
A total of 100 participants, composed of Uniformed and Non-uniformed Personnel, attended the activity which was sponsored by EXELTIS PHARMA and supervised by the Regional Health Service 8 (RHS 8).
PBGEN RONALDO F DE JESUS, Regional Director, highlighted that the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the raising of mental health awareness among PNP personnel who are experiencing anxieties, fears and uncertainties.
“Now more than ever, mental health should receive the same concern with that given to physical health. We should widen our welcome and support to personnel who struggle with emotional and psychological distress. Raising awareness through this symposium is a great avenue to encourage those with issues to seek help”, says RD DE JESUS.
Speakers who graced the event were as follows: Dr. Arleene Grace Rosal, Psychiatric Officer, Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC); Dr. Aeris Nacion, General, Upper Gastrointestinal and Colorectal Surgery, Endoscopic, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery; Mr. Leo Leofranco, Fellow in Medicine of BSC Science in Research with affiliation of US, EU and UK; and Mr. Cherie Pulga, Medical International Specialist.
