PRO 8 Welcomes PNP’s New Top Cop

The Police Regional Office 8 under the command of PBGEN RONALDO F DE JESUS, Regional Director, proudly welcomes PLTGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR as the 26th PNP Chief during a change of command ceremony in Camp Crame on May 7, 2021.

In his speech, the new top cop formally launched his “Intensified Cleanliness Policy” (ICP) which mainly aims to correct minor problems in the organization to prevent them from getting worse.

In line with his policy, he emphasizes three (3) points, particularly in “Cleanliness in Offices” to gain back the trust and respect of the community; “Cleanliness in Ranks” by reforming the recruitment system and removing erring cops tainting the organization’s image; and ” Cleanliness in the Community” to manage the peace and order situation in the streets.

He even made mention of utilizing the so-called clustering system to address problems in illegal drugs and other street crimes.

Meanwhile, an improved complaint referral and monitoring system thru his “Sumbong Mo, Aksyon Ko! shall be adopted.

Further, he aims to strengthen the campaign of NTF-ELCAC to end terrorism and step up the campaign against law-violators; boost cyber-patrolling; and arrest those who violate the minimum health standard protocols.

“Now that we are being steered by a new leadership, the police force in Eastern Visayas shall remain committed in upholding its lawful mandates, we are in full support to all program thrusts of our new Chief, PNP,” RD DE JESUS said.

PRO 8 Nets 113 Wanted Persons and 85 Other Offenders in a Day-long Ops

Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetik, Palo, Leyte – In consonance to the call of PGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, Chief, Philippine National Police, to double the efforts in hunting down all the fugitives, authorities of Police Regional Office (PRO8) arrested 113 Wanted Persons and 85 Other Offenders in a regionwide day-long police operation simultaneously conducted on April 29, 2021.

In relation to the sustained anti-criminality efforts of this PRO, six (6) Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) from the Regional/Provincial/Municipal/City Station level were apprehended while 107 other wanted persons were arrested.
Accordingly, the intensified implementation of special laws during the day-long operation resulted in the arrest of 41 personalities involved in illegal fishing; five (5) in illegal logging; 32 in illegal gambling; and seven (7) drug suspects.
Moreover, two (2) members of the Communist-Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the authorities of this PRO. The surrenderees were identified as “Ka Paul”, 54, a PSR listed under Provincial White Area Committee (PWAC) and designated as BOP Organizer; and “Ka Nilo/Dodoy”, 29, Team Leader of M2 SRC Emporium under C.O KAMPI and V.C.O DUROK.
Accordingly, “Ka Paul” also turned-in a cal. 45 pistol marked as FABRINOR VICTORIA with SN 71-04-00584-99, and one (1) magazine and thirteen (13) rounds of live ammunition of the same caliber. A financial assistance was initially given to the CTG members prior their application of the E-CLIP.
On the other hand, the heightened implementation of RA 10591 generated significant result as 32 various firearms were voluntarily turned-over to this PRO.
PBGEN RONALDO F DE JESUS, Regional Director, directed all the Units to intensify the implementation of its operational efforts to secure the peace and order in the communities. “We need to hunt down those who are still running away from the law and put them behind bars so justice will be served to their victims,” he said.
