Updates on Benefits of the Killed and Wounded in Motiong Samar Ambush

           Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte The Police Regional Office 8 thru Eastern Visayas Police Director PCSUPT DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS visited the wake of the late PO3 GLennn Meniano and personally handed the P100,000.00 financial assistance of Chief, PNP PDG OSCAR ALBAYALDE to the bereaved families at St. Peters Chapel, Tacloban City on March 12, 2019.

           PSSUPT ANDRE P DIZON, Chief Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division (RPHRDD) was directed by RD Carlos to make sure that the beneficiaries of the late PO3 Meniano will get all the assistance and benefits from PSMBFI and other savings institutions and to ensure that the survivor officer is properly assisting the bereaved family.

           Likewise, RD Carlos directed PSSUPT BOWENN JOEY M MASAUDING, Chief Regional Comptrollership Division (RCD) to fast track the processing of claims and financial assistance from the Presidential Social Fund (PSF) of the Office of the President.

           On March 11, 2019, RD Carlos personally assisted and escorted the transfer of the body of late PO3 Meniano from Catbalogan to Tacloban City along with his bereaved families. He also provided them an initial financial assistance on that same day.

           RD paid visit to PO1 Jane Abejar at Samar Provincial Hospital (SPH) and ensure that she has contact with her immediate family. Also, an initial financial assistance was also personally handed over to PO1 Abejar. She also received P50,000.00 from the Office of the Chief, PNP and financial assistance from PD Samar.

           Meanwhile, this PRO is doing its best to hasten the processing of all other benefits under the Comprehensive Social Benefit Program intended for the KIPOs and WIPOs to somehow lessen the grief of the family for losing their loved one in such an unfortunate circumstance.

          “We seek justice for PO3 Meniano who was murdered by these communists-terrorists. We also want these criminals be brought before the bar of justice for the other victims,” RD Carlos emphasized.

        Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – Police Regional Office 8 under the flagship of Eastern Visayas Police Director PCSUPT DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS together with the RPCRD and RCSU will hold a simultaneous conduct of Firearms Safekeeping Caravan, Ugnayan ng Simbahan at Pulis (USAP) and Solidarity Walk and Peace Covenant for SAFE and SECURED 2019 Midterm Elections at Calbayog City Sports Center, Brgy. Capoocan, Calbayog City on March 16, 2019.

        The conduct of the said caravan is purposely to ensure a Safe, Secured and gunless 2019 Midterm Elections on May 13, 2019.

        Meanwhile, USAP is aligned with the C, PNP’s four-point action agenda which will enhance public engagement and elicit stronger community involvement and positive sentiments. Likewise, this aims to leverage existing partnerships with civil society, particularly the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches and other faith-based organizations.

        The conduct of Solidarity Walk and Peace Covenant aims to unify multi-sectoral bodies to renounce intimidation, violence and terrorism.

        Said activities will start with the solidarity walk at 5:00 AM with 3 thousand expected participants coming from the different sectors of the community.

        “We are hoping that these activities will serve its purpose. I am, with all humility, asking the full support and cooperation of the community to be of great help in the triumph of our endeavors. Eastern Visayas Cops Sieze 30 Banned Weapons

         Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – A total of 30 weapons were confiscated which includes 9 bottles of explosive substance locally known as “Badil”, 8 bladed/pointed weapons, 6 ammunitions, 3 firearms including 1 homemade shotgun known as “Sumpak”; 1 homemade firearm locally known as “ de holen”; and 1 unit caliber 38 revolver, 2 metal improvised bullet and 1 fired cartridge and slingshot in a 6-day simultaneous operations of police authorities all over Eastern Visayas from March 6-10, 2019 under the supervision of Eastern Visayas Police Director, PCSUPT DIONARDO BERNARDO CARLOS.

         Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 5 persons out of 5 operations while Samar Police Provincial Office arrested 3 persons out of 3 operations. Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office arrested 2 persons out of 2 operations while Biliran Police Provincial Office arrested 1 person out of a single operation. These arrested persons (all civilians) were brought to their respective areas of jurisdiction for proper documentation and disposition.

         The cases of the apprehended persons were: 6 counts for Violation of BP Blg. 6 (An Act Reducing the Penalty for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed or Blunt Weapons, and for other purposes), 3 counts each for Murder (Stabbing and Shooting incident) and Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), 1 count for Alarm and Scandal, Violation of Sec 261 of the Omnibus Election Code, Violation of RA 9516 (An Act Further Amending the Provisions of PD No. 1866) and Violation of Sec 32 of RA 7166  (An Act Providing for Synchronized National and Local Elections and for Electoral Reforms, Authorizing appropriations therefor, and for other purposes).

         A total of 9,016 PNP personnel were deployed during the 5-day regular conduct of joint PNP/AFP checkpoints for the entire region.

         “I am truly grateful of the decreasing number of seized weapons in EV during checkpoints. It truly shows that the community is cooperating in our campaign for a safe election,” RD Carlos said.
